Proof of concept for an improved twice-daily controlled-release formulation of morphine.

Egalet a/s has demonstrated proof of concept for an improved twice-daily controlled-release formulation of morphine.

Successful studies with the new formulation based on the patented Egalet^® technology show pain relief comparable with conventional morphine sustained release products on the market, and at the same time a tendency towards fewer adverse effects is seen in the group of patients receiving the Egalet^® formulation. Plasma measurements have also demonstrated fewer fluctuations in the concentrations of morphine in the Egalet^® treated group.

The new morphine formulation is developed by Egalet a/s and utilises the Egalet^® zero order release technology referred to as 2K^TM.
